MOTHER NAKED WITH GLEN JAMES BROWN | THURSDAY, 5 SEPTEMBER  2024

This Bard Summer, come while away a balmy evening with author Glen James Brown as he discusses his rambunctious latest novel Mother Naked, a medieval minstrel's tale of class, religion, art and ale...

7:00pm-9:00pm Fort Road Bar, Fort Road Hotel

Durham Cathedral, 1434. As the Black Death reigns and the Peasants’ Revolt rages, a weathered-looking minstrel arrives to entertain the city’s wealthiest men with a ghost story, one that slices closer to reality than his privileged audience could ever have imagined...

A tale of anti-feudal fury told from the fringes, Manchester-based writer Glen James Brown's second novel, Mother Naked, is inspired by a single listing in the rolls at Durham Cathedral for the lowest-paid performer since records began. He'll be talking about the book in conversation with Ryan J Smith. Mother Naked is also this month’s Bookshop Bookclub pick so you can both discuss the book with fellow readers and the following week put your questions to the author!

Entry is free but please RSVP via Eventbrite to guarantee a space.
